A creative union of opposites at Red Bull's new headquarters in Amsterdam, The Netherlands

We are talking about the office of the Dutch subsidiary of the famous Austrian company, designed in Amsterdam (Netherlands) by specialists from the international studio Sid Lee Architecture.

Several months of construction have radically transformed the premises located on the territory of the large-scale multi-purpose complex NDSM Wharf, which flourishes in one of the northern districts of Amsterdam, on the banks of the IJ River. The area occupied by the headquarters was almost 1000 square meters.

Built in the pre-war years, the NDSM (Nederlandsche Dok en Scheepsbouw Maatschappij - Dutch Dock and Shipbuilding Company) building was one of the largest shipbuilding enterprises in the world and was in working order until the mid-80s of the last century. Then the building ceased its original activity and, empty, was occupied by creative people who created a creative multifunctional space within the shipyard.

The site of a former shipyard, which occupies approximately 10 football pitches, has now become an art media center, bringing together art studios, workshops, offices, open spaces, student residences, festival venues, and restaurant and café infrastructure.

This time, the concept of the headquarters of the continuously expanding company Red Bull develops the theme of duality and polarity of space - reason and intuition, light and dark, art and business, public and private.

Much of the space seems to be unfinished, leaving a sense of the dynamics of street culture and the extreme geometry of sharp corners. This bold and open-minded solution is designed to combine the entrepreneurial spirit and the imperative sense of freedom needed to succeed in business, develop innovative ideas, and deliver vibrant presentations and events.
